Elger Esser | GALLERIA ALESSANDRA BONOMO
22 nov 2018 – 20 feb 2019
Elger Esser shows photographs from his travels in France, Giverny and Normandy, and in the Middle East, Lebanon, Israel and Egypt.
In this exhibition and in his latest works we are able to rediscover a
variety of subjects and techniques explored by the artist through the
years.
The small-scale works realized on silver-plated copper plates, his most
classic pictures of the routes in France, long exposures and dilated times
of pure contemplation of the landscape, introduce us to a direct vision of
the subject and of all its details, which can escape in the real life.
In his perspectives, nature and architectural elements give us ideal
horizons and the suggested timeless dimension is actually the “eigenzeit”.
Thus, in the infinite landscapes of the artist, photography solves his
pictorial moment.
Elger Esser, German artist, Roman by adoption (he lived in Rome from 2
to 19 years), has maintained in photography the characteristics of the
Becher’s german school and italian sensibility.
