The exhibition is inspired by the homonymous film by Michelangelo Antonioni that, starting from a mystery in which a photographer believed to have captured unintentionally murder with his camera, he staged a fascinating meditation on the gap between reality and imagination. The presented works tell of the long journey of research undertaken by the Gallery from the years ‘ 90 yesterday focused on contemporary photography.
In Gallery 1 will present a series of works by John McRae entitled Spot the Arab that explores the stereotypes and prejudices that revolve around the meaning of being Arabs today. The artist will be accompanied by a critical text by Jonathan Turner. One of the portraits of the series was selected as a finalist in 2017 under the Photographic Portrait Prize, organized by the National Portrait Gallery in Canberra. In the other rooms will be exhibited the work of leading international photographers: Nobuyoshi Araki, Matteo Basilé, David Byrne, Erwin Blumenfeld, Sylvie Fleury, Thomas Glassford, Nan Goldin, Matthias Herrmann, Fritz Kok, Myriam Laplante, Francesca Marti, John McRae, Tracey Moffatt, Erwin Olaf, Dino Pedriali, Mary Pizzi, Katharina Sierverding, Melati Suryodarmo, Inez van Lamsweerde, Wilhelm von Gloeden.
